A Brief Introduction to the Text
A young man who was looking for a job got arrested when he was walking in the street because of his long hair, his indifference to the incident and the casual manner in which he answered their questions.
Though he was taken to court, he was released soon, not because he was found innocent but because he had a middle-class background and a 'brilliant academic record' and he could afford a very good solicitor.
The unpleasant experience reveals that the law can be arbitrarily applied sometimes and even the law itself may be unjust.
