The all new Lighthouse Festival is right on track with entertainment fully booked, the local Lighthouse Festival committee is working hard to ensure the success of the event on Saturday 30th October. Committee Chairperson, Kay Tuck, said while it seemed like a huge task at first, the group has worked well together and is now looking forward to showcasing the Burnett Heads community. "We have been overwhelmed by the response from entertainers, artists, food vendors and people who just simply want to help out," she said. The revised festival will now coincide with Bundaberg Regional Council's Crush Festival and with the Port 2 Port Bundaberg Cruising Yacht Classic which will give the event a true international flavour. For music fans, the Lighthouse festival is a "must do" with entertainment booked on the main stage from 9am to 5pm. The many and diverse acts will include local singer-songwriter Mitch Barrington, (Pictured ) who is quickly becoming known as one of Queensland's most exciting young talents. Also:- Anne Etherton, Cairnsey, Ryan Joles, Animus, Quatro, Black Dog Blues Band & the Burnett Heads School Choir. The wide array of other acts include a Fire Twirling Display and Lessons and African drumming. While listening to the great music, visitors will also be able to take in some wonderful art and photography and treat their tastebuds to a showcase of local cuisine. Naturally, no event at Burnett Heads would be complete without a boating and fishing expo to show off the local lifestyle.

Among the many other highlights of the day will be a cook off between the mayors of Bundaberg Regional Council and North Burnett Regional Council. In a battle of culinary skills, one can only guess whether the traditional country skills of Mayor Joy Jenson or the cosmopolitan city influence of Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch will be triumphant at the Lighthouse Festival The cook off will help launch the Bundaberg and North Burnett regional culinary trail that will feature a range of Signature dishes to be offered by restaurants across the region. For the little ones:There will be face painting & the committee was quick to secure the services of the company that provided the carnival rides at the Innes Park Australia Day Festival.
