FOREWORD
In a continuous effort to provide investors and market practitioners with practical and useful tools relating to the securities and futures industry, we are pleased to present a new and Third Edition of An English-Chinese Glossary of Securities, Futures and Financial Terms. The Second Edition of the Glossary was published in April 2003. In the past year, the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO) commenced operation and brought in a much improved regulatory regime. We have expanded the section on defined terms under the SFO to include expressions in the related subsidiary legislation as well. This and other modifications mean the Third Edition contains over 14,200 terms, increasing from 13,800 previously. The layout has also been revised to enhance readability. This latest edition is not only available in printed version. A CD-ROM version with search functions and other user-friendly features is available. We hope readers will find both versions handy and useful. I thank the Translation Unit of the Securities and Futures Commission for producing this new publication.
