Reflections...
Since becoming a mother, I sometimes begin to feel overwhelmed by all that needs to be done to care for my family of six. I sometimes feel exhausted from tryingtofittoomanythingsintomyday.Isometimesfeel a creeping fear that I cannot protect my children from the dangers that are lurking in the world. And sometimes, I just feel weariness from trying to do too many things on my own, not asking for help. Then I have to remember that whether I worry much or plan well, it is really not in my hands, but in our heavenly Father's. One of this week's lectionary readings is found in Psalm 121.
I lift up my eyes to the hills-- from where will my help come My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.
provide for my soul. Resting in Jesus, I'm resting in Him… Putting my faith in His Word… Trusting, obeying my heavenly Friend… Resting in Jesus my Lord. When I am drowning… You revive me… When I'm defeated… You rescue me… And when deserted… You replenish my soul …When I'm beaten… You defend me… When I'm bitter… You direct me… When I'm burdened… You deliver my soul.

Father, I trust you. I know I cannot rely on my abilities to do anything, but instead on your all-powerful, all-seeing, never-ending love. Please help me to rest in the knowledge that everything is under Your control. Help me to constantly trust You to be my keeper. And thank You for the peace that comes from leaning on You. Amen.
