Fairfield's New School of Business
Thanks to current and anticipated gift revenue, Fairfield University has been able to acquire the Conference Center, located near the south gate of campus from the America's Community Bankers Association. By this fall, it will serve as the new home for the School of Business. The structure will feature 12 classrooms, eight team workrooms, two computer labs, 45 faculty offices, and a dean's complex. In addition, at least two other campus offices will occupy some of the space. This acquisition comes at an important time for the School of Business which, in the last five years, has experienced an increase of 28 percent in the number of undergraduates it serves. Thanks in part to last spring's accreditation by the prestigious AACSB, that figure is expected to grow another 7 to 10 percent in the coming years. Likewise, the MBA program, begun in 1994, was facing similar growing pains. Having exceeded its original enrollment projections, it now offers seven concentrations and has added several faculty positions to make this transformation possible.
