(1.0) INTRODUCTION Dillinger is a game for 3-6 players that allows you to recreate the Crime Wave that struck the mid-west of America during the Depression years, c. 1931-1934. This was an era during which the "bad guys" seemed to be several (big) steps ahead of law enforcement, a fact reflected in the play of the game. The crime wave - and, especially, the exploits of America's most infamous bank robber, John Herbert Dillinger - fascinated the public. Conversely, they also led to the adoption of new anti-crime laws (The Federal Crime Bills of 1934) and the emergence of The Federal Bureau of Investigation and its now notorious director, J. Edgar Hoover. As the game progresses, each player gets to play both the Bad Guys and Law Enforcement. (2.1) THE GAMEBOARD The gameboard shows the Midwest of the United States in the 1930's. The important items on the map are the state boundaries (used for movement) and the Banks (rectangular boxes containing the name of the bank). In addition, the states in which Special State Police and Kidnap Victim cards can be played are indicated. Off- map, but also on the gameboard are Jail. Captured Bad Guys are placed here. Places to put the decks of cards (2.2) THE CARDS All cards in the game are in one of two "decks": the Bad Guy and the Accessory Deck. The Bad Guys: These are the 20 most infamous Bank Robbers and Hitmen of the era.
