    Progress and Practice of Study on China South Grid Visualization

    Abstract: The South China Power Grid transmits
    power by long distance, bulk capacity, and
    ultra-high voltage. It is the only power grid which
    integrates AC/DC operation in China, and this type
    of power grid is quite unusual throughout the
    world. There are many DC transmission lines
    connected to Guangdong Power Grid. South China
    Power Grid has become on of the power grids with
    the most complicated structure, the highest science
    & technology level, the most compact connection,
    and the highest difficulty to operate safely and
    stably in China. It is also one of the power grids
    which first implements the "West-to-East Power
    Transmission", and has the largest power
    transmission scale and the best economy profit.
    Deregulation, unbalance of region source structure
    and appearance of new technologies male power
    systems more Complex, even more data (technical
    and economical) are generated, and power systems
    are operated closer to their limit. Entities
    concerning grid characteristics have changed and
    increased also, It is urgent to construct a new
    operating state visualizing platform by using
    power system analysis methods, numerical
    analysis methods and computer data processing
    and visualizing technique in order to display the
    data animatedly, clearly and sharedly is the
    challenge of grid visualization. The paper
    introduces the globally status quo of the grid
    visualization research, and visualization and its
    application of China south grid was also presented
    in detail.
