    Abstract
    This thesis conducted a positive analysis concerning the ever-worsening turnover of knowledge workers in state-owned enterprises of China. State-owned enterprises are the biggest loser in the talent competition for its net outflow, and the loss of knowledge workers is typical of the turnover of state-owned enterprises. Relatively little research explores the inherent reasons for why knowledge workers chose to leave. Undoubtedly, therefore, it is practically significant to study the most typical issue of the most troubled corporate form.
    On the basis of generalizing the research fruits covering this issue home and abroad, the author put forward seven hypotheses centering around the relationships among possible factors that might result in quitting and the actual resignation. He designed a detailed questionnaire and handed out to some 150 targeted people in an anonymous manner, and had face-to-face talks with some 50 targeted people, through which he got precious first-hand materials. And by means of statistical regression analysis, he found out the following reasons that might account for the resignation:
    What they specialize in differs from what they actually do; They could not work to their full potential; Adequate and continuous professional training can not be guaranteed; Compensation is not competitive; Work conditions and environment are not favorable; Sound interpersonal relationships can not be maintained; Stimulation mechanism is not flexible and encouraging; Personal advancement is hindered due to the faint development prospect of the organization;

    Finally the paper presented a string of counter-measures with regard to how state-owned enterprises should relieve the side effects of the WK turnover in a cost-effective and most effective fashion and retain knowledge workers in a scientific, economical, legal manner.
