Purpose:
Students will learn how to use descriptions in narrative writing and learn how to write descriptions
Objective:
Students will be able to master the techniques of writing descriptions□
Materials / resources:
1. the course book Write to learn
2. ppt slides
3. handouts in class
Activities and procedures:
1. Have students discuss their embarrasing / unforgettable experiences in groups;
2. Students read the sample input article debut individually;
3. Have students understand the writing techniques used in the article, for example, the dominant compositional technique and other techniques;
4. Students discuss how descriptions are exploited in presneting the event;
5. Draw learners' attention to the descriptive language of the article;
6. Students learn the usage of the word debut;
7. Assign a new writing task;
8. Students do brainstorming and do fast in-class writing on the new topic;
9. Have students' read each other's in-class written work;
10. Read students' in-class written work in class and give comments.
