We strongly recommend not to apply anaesthetic gels or sprays directly on the endosope. Make sure the bite guard is in place during probe extraction.
Handle the probe with care. Do not drop the connector or scanhead.
Process the TEE probe immediately after extraction from the patient. Specifically do not allow body fluids to dry on the probe.
If immediate rinsing is not possible, then dry off the endoscope with a wipe or cloth moistened with water.
Rinse the endoscope thoroughly in lukewarm water. The rinse should typically be 1 minute, and a large volume of fresh water (e.g. 2 gallons) must be used and not reused.
Clean the probe in enzymatic cleaner according to the soak times indicated. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and observe dilution rates. Use a plastic container or the wallrack tube for enzymatic solution.
