Dr. Chang has a long term interested in exploring biologically active components from Chinese herbs. Our research approaches are the bioactivity- or mechanism of action-directed isolation and identification of active compounds and the mechanism of action studies.
◎Research Activities & Accomplishments
Be interested in exploring active component from Chinese herbs, we have investigated the following Chinese herbs leading to the isolation and characterization of new compounds, active compounds, and the mechanism of action studies. 1. Immunomodulators from Chinese herbs Gardenia jasminoides (Shanzhizi) Anisomeles ovata (Fang-feng Cao) Bupleurum chinensis (Chai-Hu) Eucommia ulmoides (Du-zhong) 2. Anticancer and angiogenesis inhibitors from Chinese herbs Salvia miltiorrhiza (Dan-Shan) Bupleurum chinensis (Chai-Hu) Haematoxylon campechianum Angelica sinensis 3. Phytoestrogen from Chinese herbs Flower of Pueraria lobata (Gehua) Root of Pueraria lobata (Gegen) Ligustrum lucidum (Nuzhenzi) Davallia divaricata 4. Antiviral and antibacterial agents from Chinese herbs Polygonum bistorta Cyathea lepifera Sophora flavescens (Kushen) Citrus reticulate Houttuynia cordata (Herba Houttuynia) 5.
